Precautions for use

Stacking

empilement

One of the main causes of alteration of the items’ surfaces is stacking. To protect the enamel from scratches we strongly recommend you stack the items vertically rather than horizontally. Although the base of the items is finely frosted, rubbing them against each other can nevertheless cause friction. It is also strongly recommended to only stack items that have been specifically designed for stacking.

Dishwasher

micro-ondes

Follow the instructions of your appliance for dosage and usage. For best results, use different cycles for washing glasses, porcelain, cutlery, or cooking equipment (pots and pans).

Residue and marks

dépôts et traces

The appearance of grey marks is caused by metallic particles encrusted in the micro scratches of the enamel, these usually disappear when the porcelain item is cleaned with liquid detergent or scouring cream. It is also advisable to check the quality of the cutlery, particularly knife blades

Chips

ébrechures

We design and manufacture our products with the utmost care. Although RAK Porcelain is particularly resistant, any edge chips that may occur despite all our efforts are often the result of inappropriate handling during washing, serving and storing.

Microwave ovens: limitations

micro-ondes

RAK professional porcelain may be used in microwave ovens. However collections with metallic decorations must not under any circumstances be subjected to this heating method, as the resulting electric arcs will damage your equipment. These products are identified in our online store in the description and marked with a symbol.

Ovens, plate warmers and salamander grills

Ovens, plate warmers and salamander grills

Our products are manufactured to resist high temperatures without undergoing any alterations. You may safely place plates and dishes in plate warmers and under salamander grills. With the exception of certain specified items, we do not recommend the use of plates for baking in the oven.

Wooden items

Wooden items

The wooden items in our collections are specially treated to make them highly durable. They must be hand cleaned using a mild detergent and never be placed in the dishwasher..

Stainless steel cutlery

Stainless steel cutlery

To prolong the life of your cutlery for as long as possible, we recommend the following care:

  • After use, stains can develop quickly if salty or acidic components contained in food are not removed.
  • Steam and condensation from hot water can also cause staining and premature corrosion, cutlery should be dried as soon as possible in order to remove all traces of water.
  • Stains can also be caused by aggressive detergents or excessive quantities of detergent, check your washing facility regularly. Ensure that blades of knives placed in the cutlery basket do not touch any other metal utensils, this way you can avoid stains and knife blades will not be damaged by other items.

Stains, stubborn dirt and corrosion can be removed easily with a scouring sponge. In most cases, food residue is not completely removed after washing/rinsing, cutlery is stained by the rust in the dishwasher originating from corroded materials such as screws or rivets from saucepans or frying pans.

Water hardness: The correct amount of dishwasher salt depends on the hardness of the local water. It is important to follow the manufacturer’s recommendations, as the incorrect dose may have a negative effect on cleaning results and the condition of the cutlery, as well as on the service life of the machine.
